Caitlin Johnson

Caitlin was born and raised in Lexington, KY, and attended Centre College in Danville, KY where she double majored in History and Spanish. Caitlin returned to Lexington to continue her studies at the University of Kentucky, completing an M.S. in Higher Education and a graduate certificate in International Education. Before joining the Stuckert Career Center, Caitlin served in various roles in the UK International Center’s Office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS).
Prior job that shaped her: Before moving to the Stuckert Career Center, Caitlin served as the Sponsored Student & Scholar Coordinator in the UK office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). In that role, Caitlin guided international students in F-1 and J-1 status on maintaining their immigration status as a Student Immigration Specialist. Many advising sessions would revolve around work authorization in the US (OPT, CPT, Academic Training, etc.). She was also fortunate to champion initiatives supporting access to higher education for students from displaced populations during her time in this role. This position continued to shape Caitlin’s desire to support diverse students in attaining educational and career aspirations.
What she enjoys doing outside of work: Caitlin loves spending time at home with her spouse and hound dogs, reading, and trying out new restaurants!
Goal in life: To continue learning about other cultures and communities, and to use that gained understanding to support mentorship and growth for others. Part of this goal includes continued travel around the world!
Fun fact: Caitlin grew up playing the violin and was a part of an orchestra from 2nd grade through graduate school. She misses playing in an ensemble!
