Salem is from Birmingham, Alabama and completed his Bachelor’s in Communication Management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He went on to complete his Master’s at Illinois State University in Educational and Administrative Foundations, College Student Personnel and Administration. Before becoming the Assistant Director and IFC Advisor here at UK, Salem worked at Penn State as the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life. He is also highly involved with committees with his national organization, Delta Sigma Phi as well as within the Cultural Greek Leadership Conference, and is a NASPA Region II Representative. Salem believes that being involved in a student's college experience, whether it’s interacting with them at FSL 101 or working with them as an involved leader, is extremely special. He wants to continue to move forward in supporting today’s college student and focus on the needs of tomorrow by being what students need even if they don’t know it yet. Outside of the office, Salem enjoys spending time with his dog Lucy, trying to golf, and cooking on the grill.
