Peer Supported Learning
Peer Supported Learning is a key part of students’ academic journey. These services provide a collaborative learning environment for students to learn with and alongside other undergraduate students who are slightly more advanced in their academic experience. Peer leaders, who were recently at the same point in their journey as learners, offer empathy, guidance, support, and mentorship based on their own recent experience.
Students benefit from learning alongside peers who are working through similar course challenges. In Peer Supported Learning, students can ask questions, hear how others approach problems, and build confidence as independent learners.
Peer learning is a powerful driver of academic belonging - the sense that students are valued, capable, and connected within their academic environment. Peer relationships are one of the most significant influences on student learning and development. Peer Supported Learning intentionally leverages these relationships to create structured opportunities for students to engage, connect, and succeed
"Working with peers helped me break down complex material. I got advice on studying and how to go about the course from someone who had recently taken it and done well."
