Today’s student faces increased costs of higher education while federal grants and loans continue to shrink. Many students are one emergency away from dropping out of school because of their inability to pay their bills. The solution we have turned to are emergency award grants. These grants are typically around $500 and can support students who are experiencing a financial crisis, that for many of us would be an uncomfortable hit to our savings account, but for these students, it may mean walking away from an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Students must apply for these emergency grants and provide the necessary information and documentation. This process allows for student at financial risk for leaving to institution to connect with a Basic Needs Coordinator who can provide additional resources, referrals, and financial education.

The University of Kentucky Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is excited to offer Scholarship Universe as a resource for our students!
Scholarship Universe (SU) is an online scholarship platform that matches students to relevant, vetted external scholarship opportunities, as well as internal scholarships offered by the university. Each external scholarship opportunity a student sees on SU has gone through an extensive vetting process to ensure the scholarship is offered through a reliable and authentic source.
SU is available for currently enrolled UK students and admitted prospective students who have a UK linkblue account. Students can login to complete the student profile and search and apply for external and internal scholarship opportunities. The external scholarship opportunities are available through sources outside of the University of Kentucky.
Several departments and colleges within the University administer their own scholarship programs. Students who have chosen a major are encouraged to contact the department or college in their major area of study regarding scholarship opportunities. Some UK colleges are now utilizing Scholarship Universe for departmental scholarship applications, but please check with your respective college regarding their specific scholarship procedures and deadlines. Contact information and webpages for the various UK colleges can be found at https://www.uky.edu/financialaid/college-departmental.
How do I login to Scholarship Universe?
