First-Gen Program Advising
What to Expect
First-generation advisors take a holistic approach, ensuring each meeting is personalized to meet the individual student's needs. The focus goes beyond academics, with advisors and students creating a personal plan of action and reviewing campus resources. The goal is to conduct early interventions to address potential barriers and challenges a student may face. These advising meetings are an opportunity to establish an advisor-student relationship that will continue throughout the student's academic journey.

Students should come prepared to engage in a discussion about their immediate needs or questions as well as their future goals.
