Ways To Get Ready For The Fair!

Navigating The Career Fair

Student Registration/Check-in Process

Student Registration/Check-in will be only at the Senate Chambers in the Gatton Student Center. 

We will have signage and fair volunteer to help guide you there to guide to the main entrance. 

  1. Staff will guide you to check-in to the fair using Handshake. This will mark your attendance into the fair as well if you want credit for UKinvests.  
  2. Fill out a name tag
    • Make sure to put your name, major and graduation year.
      • Employer will looking for all this information.  
  3. Grab an "I'm exploring" sticker
    • These are for students who have to complete an assignment, but not actively seeking a job/internship
    • If you not in professional dress, you will be offered a sticker. 
    • Employer have been informed of these stickers and know you might still approach to ask a question or two. 
  4. Check in your backpack/unnecessary items
    • Do not leave your phone, you will need it to check-in at each employer booth and for the Career Fair plus map.  

Career Fair Resources and Support

We understand that navigating a career fair can be exhilarating yet overwhelming, and we are here to make sure you have the support you need every step of the way.

  • If you need a space to debrief, practice your elevator pitch, or to request a Career Fair Guide then you will go to the glass room next to Worsham Theater. 

 

Fair Engagement

If you have a smartphone, bring it with you! 

  • Employers will have QR code check-ins at each table. This will provide them with Handshake information and be able to connect after the fair. 
  • Download the Career Fair Plus on your phone before you leave Worsham Theater. 
    • Utilize the Career Fair+ app to access an interactive map, research employers, and more. The live map will be available a week before the event. 

No smartphone, that's okay. We will have some printed maps and list of employers available. 

Printed Resumes

  • Print one resume for every employer you are interested in and then add five more to ensure you are well-prepared. 
  • If necessary, (5) additional resumes can be printed at the fair.
    • The coat room located outside of the Student Center ballrooms will offer a printing station for additional resumes.

Begin your exploration by visiting companies in the Harris Ballroom and the Grand Ballrooms.

Completing your time at the Career Fair

As you wrap up your day filled with networking and invaluable connections, there are a few essential items to check off your list. 

  1. Return your nametag to a "Nametag basket" located around the exits and bag check. 
  2. Return to Senate Chamber to pick up your backpack/items.

Fair Follow-up

After you have gone home, take time to connect with those recruiters 

  1. Connect with the recruiters on LinkedIn or Handshake. 
  2. Send a thank you message/email to the recruiters. 
  3. Start applying to jobs/internship
