Ways To Get Ready For The Fair!

Navigating The Career Fair

Student Registration/Check-in Process

Student Check-in and Bag-drop will be at the Senate Chambers in the Gatton Student Center.

We will have signage and fair volunteers to help guide you to the main entrance.

  1. Staff will have you check-in to the fair using Handshake. This will mark your attendance into the fair as well if you want credit for UKinvests.
  2. Fill out a name tag (optional).
    • Include your name, major and graduation year, as employer will look for all this information.
  3. Grab a sticker from the name badge table.
    1.  "I'm exploring" sticker
      • These are for students who have to complete an assignment, but not actively seeking a job/internship.
      • If you're not in professional dress, you will be offered an "I'm exploring" sticker.
      • Employers have been informed of these stickers and know you might still approach to ask questions.
    2. "Internship Seeker" sticker
      • These are for students actively seeking an internship opportunity.
      • We encourage Juniors and underclassmen to wear this sticker if they are dressed professionally.
    3. "Career Ready" sticker
      • These are for students actively seeking a full-time job opportunity.
      • We encourage Seniors and graduate students to wear this sticker if they are dressed professionally.
  4. Check in your backpack/unnecessary items.
    • Do not leave your phone, you will need it to check-in at each employer booth and to access the Career Fair Plus map.

Fair Engagement

If you have a smartphone, bring it with you!

  • Employers will have QR code check-ins at each table. This will provide them with Handshake information and be able to connect after the fair.
  • Download the Career Fair Plus on your phone before you leave Worsham Theater.
    • Utilize the Career Fair+ app to access an interactive map, research employers, and more. The live map will be available a week before the event.

No smartphone, that's okay. We will have some printed maps and list of employers available.

Printed Resumes

  • Print one resume for every employer you are interested in and then add five more to ensure you are well-prepared.
  • If necessary, (5) additional resumes can be printed at the fair.
    • The coat room located outside of the Student Center ballrooms will offer a printing station for additional resumes.

Begin your exploration by visiting companies in the Harris Ballroom and the Grand Ballrooms.

Fair Follow-up

After you have gone home, take time to connect with those recruiters

  1. Connect with the recruiters on LinkedIn or Handshake.
  2. Send a thank you message/email to the recruiters.
  3. Start applying to jobs/internship
