Handshake

Here are some of the main highlights:

1. Make appointments to meet with Career and Major Exploratory professionals. 
2. Seek out internships and job openings in various industries. The platform adapts to meet your needs, pushing out customized information that is relevant and timely based on your career interests, experiences, and major.  
3. Participate in the hiring process by applying and interviewing with employers on campus.
4. Explore on-campus events such as Career Fairs, workshops, employer tabling, and information sessions.  
5. On-demand resources available via the Resource Library

All University of Kentucky students that are currently enrolled have a preloaded Handshake profile with registrar information. A weekly sync assists with updating student's profiles with college or major changes, GPA, and school year. 

To get started, please activate your account by following: 

1. Go to https://uky.joinhandshake.com/edu
2. Click the UK LinkBlue blue button
3. Login by entering your LinkBlue ID and password.
4. Update your graduation year and complete the consent forms. 

Please visit the App Store or Google Play to download the Handshake mobile app. 

How do I login to the Handshake App?

1. Go to the Handshake app on your device

2. Type in the school name “University of Kentucky”

3. Click “School Login” button

4. This will take you to the UKY Single-sign page

5. Use your LinkBlue ID (without the uky.edu) and your LinkBlue password

6. Click Login

UK Alumni are considered anyone who attended UK and has completed 12+ credit hours. University of Kentucky alumni are eligible for a Handshake account.

1. Visit https://uky.joinhandshake.com/login
2. Click sign up for an account on the left
3. Click Student/Alumni
4. Fill out form – don’t worry about the school email. Just put any email address you like. It may take a few days for your account to be approved.

NOTES:
-Handshake requires a password that is a minimum of 12 characters, which must contain at least two of the following: letters, numbers, and other characters.
-After submitting your account registration request you will receive an automatically-generated email from Handshake. If you cannot locate the message in your email inbox, then we recommend checking your junk mail/spam, in case the email was misrouted.

How to Log into Handshake Mobile

1. Open the app on your device and enter your school to get started - Tap in the search box to type in the name of your school, then select it from the dropdown. 

2. Enter your email address that's connected to your Handshake account, then tap Continue. 

3. Check your email for a unique code sent to your inbox. 

Subject: "Your Handshake temporary passcode is ready

From: Handshake <handshake@m.joinhandshake.com>

Body: "Hey [NAME],

Here is your temporary passcode to log in to the Handshake app. For your security, this code can only be used once and expires after 30 minutes.

Temporary Passcode

[CODE]" 

UK students who are no longer enrolled at the university will have their email addresses turned off after nine months from the date of their separation. This will affect your Handshake account if you haven't updated your email address.
