Beth Hanneman
Associate Director, Career Advising & Career Education
Prior to coming to the Bluegrass State and the University of Kentucky, Beth worked five years in human resources/recruiting in corporate financing. She has lived in Washington, DC collaborating with non-profits and government agencies on national hiring practices and has smelled the air standing inside the Oval Office. A prior job that shaped her:
In high school, Beth worked as an activity assistant at a retirement community center. Working with families whose loved ones are dealing with Alzheimer’s disease is a humbling experience. It taught her at a young age to seize the day.
How she would describe herself:
Hardworking, optimistic and sincere, are just three words to describe her.
What she enjoys doing outside of work:
Beth loves to travel and experience new life adventures. She has climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, cross country skied in Estonia and touched the Parthenon in Greece. In addition, volunteers as a camp counselor with Kids Cancer Alliance and is a Certified Yoga Instructor.
A goal in life:
“You are part of a puzzle in someone’s life. You may never know where you fit. But, someone’s life may never be complete without you in it.” Beth’s goal in life is to try to make another person’s life better simply by knowing her. In 2019, she was awarded the Ken Freedman Outstanding Advising Award. https://youtu.be/9oCLZMDFWKE
