Jacob Murphy
Assistant Director, Career Advising
Jacob has been in the counseling and social work field for over 9 years and has had been working in career counseling for 7 of those years. Before accepting his role at UK, Jacob worked at Morehead State University as a Career Development Advisor in the Center for Career Development and Experiential Education. Jacob also worked for 4 years for the Department of Juvenile Justice providing counseling for troubled teenagers in Kentucky. Jacob received his Master’s degree in counseling from Morehead State University in 2018.
Prior job that shaped him: Social Service Clinician with the Department of Juvenile Justice. This role taught me how to counsel and relate with others.
How he would describe himself: Father and husband with a laid-back personality.
What he enjoys doing outside of work: Hunting, fishing and spending time with my wife and kids.
A goal in life: Build my own carpentry shop and continue to improve my carpentry skills that were taught to me by my grandfather and father.
Fun Fact: I live on a farm with 3 mini donkeys, a horse, 4 chickens, and a golden retriever named Ruby.
