UK Campus Recreation Travels to Southeast Collegiate Fitness Expo
In February, a dedicated group of students from University of Kentucky’s Campus Recreation’s Fitness team ventured to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend Southeast Collegiate Fitness Expo.
This annual conference offers networking and professional development opportunities to 600+ students and professionals from 50+ schools. Two days full of educational lectures, group fitness classes and hands-on sessions leave students inspired to jumpstart change at their universities.
University of Kentucky’s students joined tons of sessions and some even chose to share their experiences by presenting. Fitness Graduate Assistant, Maddie Kuehne led, “Move to Inspire” encouraging instructors to reflect on their inspirations in order to build more authentic instructing styles. Group Fitness Program Assistant, Brooke Harlamert led “Food for Fuel” and “Step up to the Challenge” combining her passions of fitness, wellness, and food.
Students walked away with loads of new information, new friends and, memories to last a lifetime. Here are some of the students' thoughts:
