The Student Success Student Advisory Committee (SSSAC) is comprised of professional, graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Kentucky. The committee is an advisory body that will bring the student perspective to organizational decision-makers on issues regarding campus culture and sense of belonging.
This is an unpaid student leadership position. However, members of the committee would be provided meals and UK swag throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Success Student Advisory Committee will be responsible for the following:
- Membership terms of one year during the academic calendar.
- Meeting at least 6 times per academic calendar year with the Co-Chairs of the advisory committee, Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Student engagement, as well as senior institutional leaders.
- Articulating campus culture issues that impact a sense of belonging for students and the institutional commitment to creating a safe, hospitable, and inclusive environment for all.
- Attend ad hoc meetings when necessary.
- Communicating the impact of local, state, national and international incidents on student communities.
- Offering feedback and suggestions on administrative responses to dilemmas and crises impacting a sense of belonging for students.
- Strategizing on-campus programming to effectively support the community in times of conflict and crisis.
- Providing counsel to the Vice President for Student Success on community topics impacting students.
