Welcome First Generation Wildcats!

At the University of Kentucky we define first-generation as neither parent or guardian have a four-year degree. First-generation services are dedicated to empowering first-generation students through tailored initiatives, academic programs, comprehensive advising, and engaging events. From transitioning into college to successfully graduating and becoming a Global Wildcat, we provide the support and resources needed at every stage of the journey. Our programming fosters academic success, leadership development, and community building, ensuring first-gen students thrive, connect, and achieve their full potential.

Scholarships First-Generation Student Scholarships

Scholarship Universe is a great resource to learn about First-Generation scholarships you may be eligible for. Students can login to complete the student profile and search and apply for external and internal scholarship opportunities.

First-Generation Scholars Living Learning Community

Freshmen scholars at the University of Kentucky are required to live on campus in a pre-designated residence hall where the First-Generation Living Learning Community (LLC) has been placed.The LLC helps build a sense of community that has always been a cornerstone of Appalachian culture.

First-generation program advising provides tailored support to help first-gen students navigate college, access resources, and achieve academic and personal success.
