Kristen Shimko

Student Wellness Coordinator Senior, POWER

Kristen Shimko serves as a Wellness Coordinator Senior for Prevention, Outreach, and Wellness Education Resources (POWER) at the University of Kentucky. In this role, she oversees content areas including hazing, gambling, and alcohol and other drugs. Kristen comes to POWER from a student affairs background, serving previously at higher education institutions, including UK, in roles including Student Conduct and Residence Life. 

Along with her work in POWER, Kristen is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. Program at the University of Kentucky and her research area of interest is around exploring NCAA DII female student athletes cognizance of hazing reporting structures and any barriers, real or perceived, that these students may experience in reporting hazing concerns. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Wheeling Jesuit University and a master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
