Student Wellness Ambassador
Student Wellness Ambassadors are a diverse group of students who work with the Prevention, Outreach, and Wellness Education Resources (POWER) Team in Student Success to support the health and well-being of University of Kentucky students by reducing risk, preventing illness, and empowering healthy behavior change. The Student Wellness Ambassador will work with the team to provide health education outreach on topics such as stress management, body image, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco/vape cessation, sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and other related wellness topics. Student Wellness Ambassadors are leaders and work in teams to plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate health education outreach programs. Learning Bar Facilitator
Learning Bar Facilitators provide interactive, hands-on, alcohol education for students across the UK community. They are trained in alcohol’s impact on the body and community as well as strategies to mitigate the harms from alcohol. Facilitators are responsible for the upkeep of The Learning Bar, record keeping, lesson development, and upholding all university alcohol and other drug policies.
Student Marketing Specialist
The POWER Student Marketing Specialist will assist the POWER team with developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that promote unit programs and events. This includes collaborating with Student Wellness Coordinators to enhance program visibility, creating visually appealing promotional materials such as advertisements, signage, fact cards, tip sheets, event flyers, and artwork for T-shirts and other promotional items. The position also supports special event planning and execution, including concept brainstorming, logistical planning, and overseeing events from start to finish. The position plays a key role in ensuring consistent branding, effective marketing strategies, and successful promotional efforts, contributing to the overall visibility and impact of the POWER unit.

Student Internships
The internship program offers hands-on experience in developing and implementing innovative health programs, engaging with the campus community, and fostering a culture of wellness. Gain valuable skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and gain comprehensive experience that will prepare you for a future career in health promotion and public health.
While the capacity for interns varies based on semester and needs, POWER can typically provide 1-2 undergraduate internships and 1-3 graduate internships per semester. It is not required for interns to come from specific content areas, although many come to us from Health Promotion and Public Health backgrounds. In partnership with the UK College of Education, Graduate Internships are solely for those in the Graduate Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program and/or Health Promotion Program.
