Johnson Center
The Johnson Center is a state–of–the–art recreation facility that is designed to provide opportunities for open recreation, group fitness classes, and personal training.
The open concept design houses weight training equipment, which includes Olympic platforms, plate-loaded equipment, barbells, and dumbbells, cardio training equipment, group fitness studios, a cycling studio, basketball courts, racquetball/wallyball courts, a four-lane running track, a climbing wall, reservable power racks, lockers, and shower facilities.
It is a great place to gather‚ make new friends‚ and take a positive step towards lifelong health and fitness habits.

Access
Students
Current University of Kentucky students who are enrolled in regular, on-campus classes, and BCTC who are living in UK undergraduate housing, may use Campus Recreation facilities by presenting their student ID card. Students who are enrolled in the current semester, but who do not pay the Recreation Fee as part of their tuition fees, are eligible to purchase a membership.
Employees
Current UK employees‚ retirees‚ Donovan Scholars‚ and VA employees are eligible to purchase a Campus Recreation membership.
Non-UK Affiliates
Employees who work on campus but not being paid by the University of Kentucky. Examples include, but are not limited to, Aramark employees, GreyStar Employees, visiting scholars. Proof of affiliation must be sent to ukcrmembershipservices@uky.edu.
Spouses/Domestic Partners
Current Campus Recreation members are eligible to sponsor a spouse/domestic partner at the same rate as the sponsoring member. The sponsoring member must have an active Campus Recreation membership in order to sponsor a Spouse/Domestic Partner. Spouses and Domestic Partners will be required to show proof of one of the following:
- Piece(s) of official mail with each person’s name and address (examples include, but are not limited to: postmarked mail, bank statement, property tax, renter's agreement, etc.)

Marriage Certificate or Affidavit of Domestic Partnership.
Campus Recreation memberships provide access to Alumni Gym, Lancaster Aquatic Center, and the Johnson Center.

Day-use Lockers
Day-use lockers are located throughout the facility and are available for members and guests for no additional charge. No reservation is necessary; lockers are first come, first serve.
All items in day-use lockers must be removed at the end of each day. Day-use lockers will be cleaned out at the end of each day. Any items left overnight in day use lockers will be placed in lost-and-found. Campus Recreation is not responsible for items left overnight in day-use lockers.

Equipment can be checked out at the control desk once the member has accessed the facility. All equipment must be returned the same day to the Johnson Center control desk before the facility closes.

Parking & Bus Service
A pay lot is located on the corner of Complex and Sports Center Drive.
Check the UK Parking website for rules pertaining to all university parking lots, UK parking permits, and visitor parking. Parking rules are subject to change without notice. The University CATS bus runs along University Drive, which is a short walk to and from the Johnson Center.
