What is NESI?

NESI (pronounced “Nessie”) is a student-led, advisor-supported club through the Disability Resource Center (DRC). NESI creates space for neurodivergent students to connect, recharge, and build meaningful relationships—without needing to mask or conform to neurotypical norms. Allies who want to learn, listen, and support are also encouraged to participate.

NESI is open to all students who identify as neurodivergent—a diagnosis or formal affiliation with the DRC is not required to participate.

Your Community, Your Space

Insights from recent research highlight meaningful connection thrives in spaces that honor identity, encourage authenticity, and foster shared interests. NESI embraces these principles, creating a community shaped by student voices and informed by what we know helps neurodivergent students feel truly supported.

NESI was created with the understanding that students feel most comfortable and connected in spaces where they can be themselves, bond over shared interests, and experience a genuine sense of belonging. Whether you're looking for friendship, quiet company, or simply a place where you can just be—you’re welcome here.

50% of neurodiverse undergraduate students are dissatisfied with their social experience (Goddard & Cook, 2022).

NESI is working to change that—by creating spaces where students feel seen, connected, and supported.
