DRC News & Events
35 Years of Making a Difference—Thank You, Julia!
We’re excited to celebrate Julia, our office administrator, for an incredible 35 years of service to the Disability Resource Center. Julia has been a steady, trusted presence in our work and community, always bringing care and just the right amount of quick humor to keep us all going. Her presence has shaped the DRC in meaningful ways, and we are deeply grateful for the care, connection, and steady support she has shared with students and colleagues for over three decades.
Sleeves of Support...More Than A Message
Thank you to our campus partners and cafés for participating in the Sleeves of Support initiative, grounded in care, connection, and belonging. During the week of April 27, students, staff, and faculty were invited to decorate coffee sleeves with messages of encouragement at locations across campus.
These small acts of support come full circle, as over 2,000 decorated sleeves were returned to campus cafés and shared throughout May in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, bringing moments of connection and care with every cup.
NESI: Neurodiverse Educational Social Initiative
NESI is a student-led initiative focused on creating a supportive, social, and empowering space for neurodivergent students and allies. Through regular meetups, events, and conversations, we aim to foster understanding, celebrate different ways of thinking and learning, and advocate for meaningful change on campus.
Whether you identify as neurodivergent or simply want to learn more and support your peers — there’s a place for you in NESI.
Event Highlight: DIY Sensory Jar
The Disability Resource Center hosted a DIY Sensory Jar event for students, faculty, and the campus community. This hands-on workshop provided a creative opportunity to explore sensory regulation strategies while fostering meaningful connections in a supportive environment. Participants created personalized sensory jars and gained a fun, calming tool to support focus and self-regulation in their daily routines.
“I also just wanted to take the time and really appreciate what you helped me with yesterday with the accommodations. It's one of the first times I have really felt seen on campus. Thank you again!”
"I really appreciate everything you have done thus far. Thank you for being an advocate and allowing me to feel heard."
