Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
The DRC offers support to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, including services such as sign language interpreters, real-time captioning (CART), and note-taking assistance. For inquiries about these or other related services, contact the DRC office.
Steps for Accessing Services:
- Request Services with the DRC: Start the process early to ensure timely coordination.
- Priority Registration: Utilize this opportunity to secure classes that best fit your needs.
- Submit Your Class Schedule: Provide it to the DRC consultant promptly.
- Discuss Interpreter/Captioning Needs: Collaborate with the consultant to plan services for your courses.
- Report Schedule Changes: Notify the consultant immediately of any modifications.
- Inform of Absences or Cancellations: Let both the interpreter/transcriptionist and consultant know if you'll be late, absent, or need to cancel. Interpreters/Transcriptionists will wait up to 20 minutes before leaving if you're delayed.
These guidelines ensure efficient delivery of services and foster clear communication between students and the DRC team.
