UK Pathways
Program Overview
UK Pathways is a voluntary alternative resolution program for individual students determined eligible by the Office of Student Conduct. It provides students with an opportunity to engage in meaningful reflection on their decision making, risk reduction, and future planning without entering the formal disciplinary process UK Pathways emphasizes active accountability, harm reduction, and building trust within the UK community.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for UK Pathways, the incident must meet all the following criteria:
- No prior disciplinary history
- No evidence of excessive substance use or excessive intoxication
- No severe concurrent misconduct or additional policy violations
- No evidence of physical violence, threats, or harm to others
- No evidence of intentional damage to property, including vandalism
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of UK Pathways?
UK pathways will allow students to reflect on their own decision making, build practical skills, and move forward. As an alternative to the formal disciplinary process, eligible students can participate in a guided, educational experience focused on growth, accountability, and making informed decisions in the future.
What types of misconduct may be referred to UK Pathways?
Conduct that may be referred to UK Pathways must meet all of the following criteria:
- First time incident low level incident involving alcohol
- No excessive intoxication
- No disqualifying concurrent misconduct
- No violence, threats, harm, or vandalism
- No prior disciplinary history
Who will be attending my UK Pathways
A facilitator from the Office of Student Conduct or the Office of Residence Life will be present, along with up to 12 student participants.
How many times can I participate in UK Pathways
You can participate in UK Pathways only once. The hope is that you learn from past decisions and will take healthy steps to make informed decisions in the future. If you have a subsequent conduct incident, it will be referred to the formal disciplinary process.
Will I have a disciplinary record for the incident if I attend UK Pathways
No. Your participation in the Program is kept on file with the Office of Student Conduct, but it is not considered a disciplinary matter and therefore will not be noted on your official university disciplinary record.
What if I have another incident or Code of Student Conduct violation after attending UK Pathways?
If you violate the Code of Student Conduct after attending UK Pathways, your participation in the Program will be considered as part of restorative action planning in the subsequent case, but your participation in the program will not be counted as a prior disciplinary case.
Do I have to participate in the UK Pathways Program?
No, you may opt out of UK Pathways. However, if you choose to opt out, or if you fail to attend the UK Pathways session you are scheduled for, you will be scheduled for an informal meeting with the Office of Student Conduct or the Office of Residence Life.
What if I have a class conflict with my scheduled UK Pathways Program?
Contact the Office of Student Conduct at (859) 257-3755. If an academic conflict is confirmed, adjustments will be made. Generally, only class conflicts will be considered for rescheduling purposes.
