VIP Center
At VIP, our mission is to support and advocate for individuals impacted by interpersonal violence while engaging the University of Kentucky and the surrounding community in interpersonal violence education and prevention. We believe we all have a role to play in keeping others safe from harm.
People visit the VIP Center for the first time for many reasons. People may want to learn more about how to get involved, schedule a prevention education program, or make an appointment with a confidential advocate. Our VIP staff stands ready to serve you, whether it is because you or someone you care about has experienced interpersonal violence, which might include intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking, or because you want to learn more about VIP. No matter your reason, expect to be warmly greeted and immediately connected.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
Every October, the VIP Center participates in the national month-long campaign to support survivors and end dating, domestic, and relationship violence in our communities. Make your plans to participate now by stopping by any of the spaces and places listed.
Sept. 22nd: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Meet us at The Learning Bar in the Boone Center from 4 pm to 7 pm to paint pumpkins purple. These purple pumpkins will be on display throughout UK Campus, and the larger Lexington Area during the month of October. To make this campaign a success, we need your help! You don't need to bring anything but yourself and your hands ready to paint pumpkins purple.
October 7th: Moctoberfest, 4 pm to 7 pm in the Lewis Hall Courtyard. Stop by our table at the VIP Center and grab something purple for DVAM.
October 14th: Virtual Green Dot Overview Lunch and Learn for staff and faculty, 12 pm to 1 pm. Spend your lunch with us and learn how to be a Green Dot at UK. *For faculty and staff only. To sign up, please reach out to the VIP Center at vipcenter@uky.edu
October 15th: National Purple Thursday All Day. Wear something purple for National Purple Thursday and post it to socials using the hashtags #PurpleThursday #SupportSurvivors #UKGoesPurple
October 19th through 23rd- UK Week of Action
- Clothesline Project Display in GSC social staircase all week
- October 21st, 11 am to 1 pm: Clothesline Project tabling with UKPD SVU. Stop by, make a shirt and a support card to be displayed.
