At VIP, our mission is to support and advocate for individuals impacted by interpersonal violence while engaging the University of Kentucky and the surrounding community in interpersonal violence education and prevention. We believe we all have a role to play in keeping others safe from harm.
People visit the VIP Center for the first time for many reasons. People may want to learn more about how to get involved, schedule a prevention education program, or make an appointment with a confidential advocate. Our VIP staff stands ready to serve you, whether it is because you or someone you care about has experienced interpersonal violence, which might include intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and stalking, or because you want to learn more about VIP. No matter your reason, expect to be warmly greeted and immediately connected.
January 2026 Events!
January is Stalking Awareness Month. Come out and see us on campus to learn more about stalking, how to prevent it, and how we can keep our campus safe.
Tuesday, 1/13/26, 5 pm to 8 pm, Winter Wonderland Fair in GSC Grand Ballrooms. Stop by, take the pledge against stalking, and have your picture taken in our Photo Booth.
Wednesday, 1/21/26, 6 pm to 8 pm, Pigman Hall Classroom: Singo! Join us for a playful twist on musical bingo. We’ll listen to popular songs that feature themes of stalking behavior, but are often portrayed as romantic and acceptable. As each song clip plays, mark your bingo card and laugh, gasp, or say “oh NO they didn’t!” as we spot the lyrics about stalking together! Along the way, we’ll chat about how music and pop culture influence how we understand and normalize stalking. By discussing it and learning about it together, we can begin to recognize it and take our part in shaping a violence-free campus. Stalking Awareness Singo is a fun, familiar, and eye-opening educational experience with music, community, and helpful resources to take home. Sign up on BBNvolved!
Wednesday, 1/28/26, Stalking Awareness & Self-Care Yoga, 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the MLK Center in GSC. Join the VIP Center, MLK Center, and the LGBTQ* Center and take a break for ourselves as we launch into the Spring 2026 semester. Crucial to the work of violence prevention and community building is giving yourself permission to reconnect with yourself and each other. Together, we can recommit ourselves to shaping a violence-free campus and setting positive intentions for the upcoming semester. Yoga mats, blocks, journals, snacks, and water will be provided.
