Outreach and Engagement Process

Consult:

All referrals received by the Center for Support and Intervention are reviewed within one business day of receipt. A case manager will reach out to the referral submitter within 72 hours to provide contact information and any relevant information on actions we may take. If additional information is needed to better understand a situation, the case manager may request that via email or set up a phone call. CSI staff are also happy to speak with you if you are unsure of whether to refer a student or if you have additional information or questions.

Engage:

The assigned case manager reviews all the information provided in the referral and determines a plan for outreach to the student. Case managers in the Center for Support and Intervention make every effort to connect with students, always offering to meet to provide support and resource connection. Case managers approach each referral with flexibility and a commitment to meeting students where they are. Case managers also work closely with other offices on campus to identify the best support possible for a student's specific needs.

Support and Connection:

Through one on one student meetings, case managers provide support for students in identifying and prioritizing their needs, exploring and accessing resources on and off campus, understanding and working through university processes, and overall developing a plan that supports holistic well-being. Case managers focus on building a trusting and caring relationship that allows them to walk alongside the student as they overcome barriers and establish connections.

Follow Up:

Case managers provide ongoing support to students to ensure they are connected to the resources they need to be successful. Case managers assist students in taking manageable steps and will follow up closely to support a student through this process. Case managers will also connect with referral submitters, whenever appropriate, to provide updates on a referral and to engage that person with the overall support process and outcomes.
