How to Make Campus Feel Like Home

One

Get out there. Take the first step.

Leave your room and spend time around other people, even if you don't have a specific plan. Study somewhere on campus, grab a meal or check out an event.

Two

Keep coming back. Become a familiar face.

Return to the same places, activities or groups. Seeing the same people regularly makes it easier to start recognizing each other and building connections.

Three

Start small. Say hello or ask a question.

You don't have to start with a long conversation. Introduce yourself, ask someone about class or simply say hi to someone you recognize.

Four

Reach out. Study, walk, eat or go together.

Turn a small interaction into an invitation. Ask someone to grab lunch, walk to class, study together or join you at an event.

Five

Make it a habit. Connection grows over time.

Keep showing up, reaching out and accepting invitations. Familiar faces and small interactions can gradually turn into friendships and a sense of belonging.
