Front Desk Ambassador
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
Front Desk staff serve as students’ first point of contact when seeking out TL services and help create a welcoming environment and enjoyable experience for students visiting Transformative Learning.
Front Desk staff provide information about peer tutoring, Integrated Success Coaching, Supplemental Instruction and other TL initiatives as well as administrative support such as:
- Managing the check-in and check-out process for TL services
- Scheduling appointments
- Answering phones
Front Desk also assisting with marketing tasks such as tabling at special events.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passionate about supporting your fellow Wildcats
- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
*Preference is given to eligible students and/or awarded Federal Work Study funds.

Marketing Ambassador
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
TL’s Marketing Ambassadors help build brand awareness of Transformative Learning through promoting and advertising TL services & programs across campus to the UK community at large. Ambassadors will design visuals, perform outreach, and explore fresh ideas to advertise for TL services: The Study Peer Tutoring Program, Integrated Success Coaching, Supplemental Instruction, Presentation U: Speaking & Writing Center, Academic Preparation and Placement, and UK101/201.
Students can expect to gain experience with public speaking, social media management, graphic design, press release writing, copy writing, promotional material distribution, event planning and general branding for the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passionate about supporting your fellow Wildcats
- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Presentation U Peer Tutor
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
Presentation U peer tutors provide one-on-one and small group tutoring on multimodal communication assignments (oral, written, visual, digital) for courses at any level and in any subject. Peer tutors will work with students through active listening, goal setting, and probing questions to support them through the creative process. Peer tutors should be resourceful and dedicated individuals with a demonstrated commitment to academic success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Completion of UK Core Composition course(s) (CIS/WRD 110/11 or 112) with a “B” or better. Similar grades from a transferred equivalent course(s) are also considered
- Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher

Placement Testing Proctor
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
Proctors serve as guides to placement testing procedures and standards for incoming students as they transition to the University of Kentucky. They are responsible for adhering to departmental and institutional policies and best practices of placement testing and testing proctoring, holding in-person and online testing, and participating in ongoing training of testing and proctoring standards. In-person and online proctoring take place at a Transformative Learning on-campus location.

Peer Accountability Community (PAC) Leader
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
Peer Accountability Community (PAC) Leaders play a pivotal role in guiding peers toward their goals through weekly 90-minute PAC sessions, where students work together to overcome challenges like procrastination, enhance academic success, and establish effective goal-setting routines. PAC Leaders guide their groups through a structured curriculum designed to foster accountability and growth among peers.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
SI Leaders are trained to plan and facilitate weekly active learning study sessions for students enrolled in SI supported courses. SI study sessions integrate the review of course content with effective learning and studying strategies. SI Leaders do not lecture or teach new course material but provide students with the tools they need to understand and process course material themselves.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Earned an “A” or “B” in the class(es) he or she wants to support, and the class has to have been taken here at the University of Kentucky.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

The Study Peer Tutor
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Employee and Federal Work Study
Position Description:
The Study Peer Tutors facilitate drop-in academic support for undergraduate students enrolled in many 100 & 200 level math, science, and business courses. Peer Tutors assist small groups of students in fully understanding concepts, completing assignments, studying for exams, and honing their study skills. Peer Tutors are responsible for providing guidance through course content and support students in developing as independent learners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passionate about supporting your fellow Wildcats
- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Earned an “A” or “B” in the class(es) he or she wants to tutor, and the class must have been taken here at the University of Kentucky.

UK101/201 Peer Instructor
Position Type: Undergraduate Student
Position Description:
Peer Instructors are essential to students' UK 101/201 experience. They serve as role models and mentors to their students and support them during their transition to life at the University of Kentucky. Peer Instructor responsibilities include assisting a faculty instructor, co-teaching/co-facilitating UK 101/201 class sessions, and interacting with the students during in- and out-of-class activities.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled as a University of Kentucky Undergraduate Student in good standing
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Pay Rate:
Peer Instructors earn a $400 stipend for each section they support.

Student Program Coordinator
Position Type: Undergraduate Student Leadership/Supervisor
Position Description:
As a member of the TL senior staff team, Student Program Coordinators (SPCs) are experienced undergraduate leaders within TL who support Peer Supported Learning services. SPCs serve as the on-duty supervisors for PSL services, directly supervise a team of tutors, and support administrative projects such as hiring, assessment, scheduling, marketing, training, and tutor appreciation/recognition.
Minimum Qualifications:

Employed by TL for a minimum of 10 months

Demonstrated leadership and/or program administration experience

Pay Rate:
SPC start at $15.50/hr and the position requires 20 hr/wk

Graduate & Teaching Assistantships
Position Type: Graduate Students
Position Description:
As a member of the TL senior staff team, teaching and graduate assistants contribute to the overall mission of the unit and its services and continually work to improve all programs and services.

Pay Rate:
All TL assistantships include a tuition waiver plus health fees as well as a stipend.
- First-Year Assistantship Stipend is $19,200
- Returning Assistantship Stipend is $20,400
