University of Kentucky's Academic Advising administrative team provides support for the academic advisors throughout campus. Our dual-report model ensures that our students receive similar support and resources no matter their major of choice while preserving the uniqueness of each college's advising practice.
Many institutions' academic advising structure are either centralized or decentralized, while the University of Kentucky is a PARTNERSHIP. UK embarked on our unique dual reporting partnership in which the decentralized academic advising leaders (Directors & Assistant Deans) report 51% to the centralized Executive Director of University Academic Advising within the Office of Student Success and 49% to their respective college's Associate Dean/Dean. The model is designed to create alignment in practice, development, structure, outcomes and assessment of academic advising units, while ensuring students receive the seamless and cohesive experience required for their success. A major difference in this structure is that it recognizes the value of the unique experiences at the college-level, while ensuring that campus-wide advising leadership has the ability to compete in our rapidly changing student landscape and professional marketplace. If you are interested in learning more about the dual report model, please email the University Advising team.
