Need to Apply for VA Education Benefits?
You will apply for your VA education benefits through the VA website at www.va.gov/education/how-to-apply
- Once the VA processes your application they will send you a Certificate of Eligibility
(COE) in the mail. - If you have questions regarding your VA education benefits application please contact the VA Education Hotline at 888-442-4551
Need Information on Kentucky Dept. of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) Tuition Waiver?
A waiver of tuition is an education benefit provided by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, for children, stepchildren, spouses, and un-remarried widows & widowers; in recognition of the honorable service and sacrifice of eligible Kentucky veterans.
For dependents of a veteran to qualify for this benefit, the veteran must be a CURRENT resident of the state of Kentucky and have a 100% disability rating through the VA.
There are other special qualifying factors for this benefit if the veteran is deceased

*After the state approves a students' KDVA Tuition Waiver application they will send a copy of the tuition waiver to our office. Student will need to complete the internal benefit request form to get the aid posted to their UK Student Account.
Have your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE)?
Scan your COE or take a picture of it with your phone, and email it to VetCenter@uky.edu
What's Next After Submitting VA COE to UK VRC or Approved for KDVA Tuition Waiver?
After student registers for courses submit the UK internal benefit request form(s):
- Post 9/11, MGIB, VR&E, Chapter 35 DEA: seeblue.com/varequest
- KDVA Tuition Waiver: seeblue.com/kdva
*If you are receiving the Chapter 35 benefit AND the KDVA tuition waiver please submit an internal benefit request form for EACH benefit
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Each semester students need to submit the internal benefit request form(s) after registering for courses. Submitting this form notifies the VRC staff the student is wanting to use their benefits for that semester.
-All classes must contribute to the declared degree program, declared minor or certificate in order to receive payment from the VA. Students should consult with their academic advisor if in doubt about class choices.
Information on VA Chapter 31, Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E) Benefit
If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) can help. This program—also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E—helps you explore employment options and address education or training needs. In some cases, your family members may also qualify for certain benefits.

What is the Process to If Add/Drop a Class?
Students who drop/add a class AFTER filling out the UK internal benefit request form should email the VRC staff at VetCenter@uky.edu as soon as possible.

The UK SVA is a growing chapter that wants to gather student veterans in a place where they feel like they can be themselves, network with other veterans and businesses and gain a sense of belonging among other college students.
