Spring 2025 Climbing Competition
University of Kentucky students geared up and reached new heights and personal records during the Spring 2025 Climbing Competition. The event took place April 26th and had 100 students registered to compete.
The routes are designed and created by the student route setters and oversight by Campus Recreation’s Assistant Director for Outdoor Adventures, Danny Bavis. The event welcomes climbers from beginner to advanced grades. The hardest route during this competition was designed as a grade 5.13 which requires exceptional technical ability and strength to climb.

If you missed this competition, make sure to keep an eye out for the Fall 2025 event. In the meantime, get practice in at the Climbing Wall located in the Johnson Center. Or join one our Adventure Trips such as Rock Climbing at the Red River Gorge happening on Sunday April 13th. Registration is open and transportation is provided.
