Meet Livia, our Campus Recreation Member of the Month! 

Whether she’s hitting the Johnson Center gym, joining group fitness classes, or exploring with Outdoor Adventures, Livia brings enthusiasm and dedication to everything she does. Livia was nominated by her managers Dominique Floyd and Chrislyn Ruddy because she is not only an outstanding member of Campus Recreation she is also an outstanding employee.

Being an active part of the University of Kentucky's Campus Recreation has truly shaped my college experience. From fitness classes to outdoor adventures, staying active has not only helped me maintain my physical health but has also provided an outlet for stress relief and personal growth. 
 
One of the biggest ways Campus Rec has supported my health goals is by giving me access to different ways to stay active. Whether it’s working out at the gym or checking out equipment to play outside with friends, I’ve been able to keep a balanced fitness routine that fits my lifestyle. Simply going for a walk or a run has become one of my favorite ways to reset and clear my mind after a long day. 
 
Trying new activities has also been a huge part of my journey. At this point, I think I’ve taken almost every fitness class offered—and I love it! These classes give me the perfect combination of movement, relaxation, and social interaction. They help me stay motivated and even led me to meet some incredible people along the way. 
 
One of my most memorable experiences was an outdoor trip this past summer, when my friends and I went canoeing at Elkhorn Creek. Spending the day outside, enjoying nature, and just having fun with friends made a huge impact on my mindset. It reminded me how important it is to step away from daily responsibilities and simply enjoy the moment. 
 
Beyond fitness, Campus Rec has helped me build lasting connections. Since I started working in for facilities, I’ve met so many amazing people who have become some of my closest friends. It’s incredible to bond over shared experiences, whether it's a workout session, an outdoor trip, or just hanging out in the open rec spaces. 
 
If I could give any advice to other students, it would be this: take advantage of everything Campus Rec offers! Try a fitness class, go on an outdoor trip, or just explore different ways to stay active. You never know what you’ll end up loving, or who you’ll meet along the way. College life can be overwhelming, but finding something that helps you reset and enjoy the moment is so important. 
 
I’m grateful for the role Campus Rec has played in my journey, and I can’t wait to continue exploring all the opportunities it has to offer!
