Intramural Sports Basketball Championship Written by Susan Meredith

March Madness is in the air as UK Campus Recreation Intramural Sports hosted Wildcat 5v5 Basketball Champ Night in the Johnson Center. Five games were set for CoRec, Fraternity, Women’s/Sorority, Open Competitive, and Open Rec.  

It was nailbiter ending going into a triple overtime for CoRec where Last Dance was ahead for majority of the game but couldn’t hold on to the lead. The Naysayers came back to tie it up for both overtimes and won the game off a buzzer beater shot taking the Championship win at 59-57. The final win let them walk away with an undefeated season!  

Women’s/Sorority Phi Mu 1 secured a strong victory over the Randos with a final score of 40 to 27.  The Randos couldn’t seem to find their rhythm on the court, perhaps it was the anticipation of spring break or simply Phi Mu 1’s impressive teamwork and skills, that helped them take control of the game and came out on top.  

The night continued with captivating games. Chill Guys also finished with an undefeated season winning their game 39 to 36 against the White Coats. Followed by the Basketball Team taking their W with a 49 to 45 win against The Munches.  

It was a fun night here in the Johnson Center cheering on each team. Thank you to all of the 2025 intramural basketball teams and intramural basketball student officials for a great season! While Wildcat 5v5 Basketball has come to an end don’t miss out on upcoming Intramural Sports.
