All UK students are welcome to utilize the tutoring floor at The Hilary J Boone Center and Jewell Hall to study between classes or before tutoring sessions.

  • Expo markers and erasers
  • Pens, pencils & scatch paper
  • Power sources throughout to charge your device
  • Moveable tables and chairs
  • Free snacks & coffee station

What is Open Study Space?

Whether it’s to work independently or meet for a group project, TL’s tutoring floors are open for any student who wants a place to relax and study between classes. Open Study Space offers a quiet, focused environment that supports productivity along with access to a variety of study supplies and resources.

What to Expect at Open Study Space

Open Study Space is self-guided and intended for independent or group work. Students can expect to find open seating for both quiet and group study as well as moveable whiteboards and other studying supplies. All spaces and tools are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Additional Academic Supports

In addition to Open Study Space, students may also benefit from these other Transformative Learning services:

  • Drop-in Tutoring at The Study: Free, drop-in, peer tutoring for many 100 & 200 level courses in mathematics, science, & business.
  • Individual Peer Tutoring: Free, one-on-one, appointment-based peer tutoring for many undergraduate courses. 
  • Integrated Success Coaching: Collaborate one-on-one with your coach to build a personalized action plan for success.
  • Common Hour Study Group: Common Hour Study Group (CHSG) sessions are large group tutoring sessions facilitated by peer tutors at The Study.
  • Peer Accountability Communities: Highly engaging, 90-minute weekly sessions where students can learn about college success skills, set goals, work on assignments, prepare and study for exams, and preview upcoming classes. 
  • Mentor Meetings: Free, 30-minute, appointments with a peer mentor to gain practical strategies and support navigating your major, college, or program.
  • Presentation U Speaking & Writing Center: Free peer tutoring for communication and composition assignments. Any assignment. Any course.
  • Supplemental Instruction: Series of weekly, peer-led, active study sessions for select 100 & 200 level courses.
